You may have noticed that I have a brand new website! This aims to be a bit wider in appeal – and quite a bit more lively. The previous one was getting a bit heavy in text – more-or-less a stream of words with my photos plonked here and there. We shall see how this one goes down.
I do try to get around to Twitter – but also instinctively wrestle against it. On the one hand I feel an impulse to say something that might just be insightful about the adventurer world I inhabit – on the other I'm wary of adding to the chatter that already fills so much of our lives.
New Literary Agent
I have a new literary agent, the very special Victoria Hobbs at A.M. Heath. Smallish and very strong, the agency handles Maggie O'Farrell, Hilary Mantel and many others you'll know, so I'm in decent company.
All the above activity marks my re-emergence – or the beginning of it – following the writing of my huge novel. You may – or may not – have noticed that I've been a virtual recluse for a few years now. It's no secret that I turned away from doing TV some time ago – for obvious reasons. I now just do the occasional thing that seems to be genuinely interesting – or anyway authentic. Gradually, I've been struck off all the BBC's important Christmas card 'talent' lists. As for the book, I'm rather hoping that several years of labour will amount to something. We shall see! I'll be able to say more shortly. Meanwhile, I'm so grateful to those who've been waiting patiently for something – or anything – from me...
