It’s here! At last! And this one is very different.
Despite its rather alarming title – The NINE TIMES I NEARLY DIED! – the book is actually all about how to LIVE to the max. Life is precious, and there’s an amazing world out there to explore.

I've written about all those times I’ve been ‘up against it’ - like when I was chased by hitmen up a jungle river – scary! – or, in the middle of a storm, found myself sheltering from the crashing waves on an island the size of a tennis court. Nightmare! Even the sea snakes and crocodiles looked in trouble!
My aim was to INSPIRE children – the so-called ‘Anxious Generation’ – to embrace opportunities of all sorts that they’ll find out there in the wider world - if only they have the courage to seek them. That doesn’t mean they should explore in the way that I’ve done! You don’t have to go off to the Amazon or Namib Desert to have adventures. But it does mean having a sense of curiosity, and it does mean being ready to take on a challenge, however scary that prospect might AT FIRST appear to be.

I’ve also put into the book all sorts of tips – how to eat various wriggly (but nutritious!) insects and so on – and what you might want to include in your trusty survival kit.
There are lot of humorous doodles, too – the sort I draw for my own children on their school sandwich wrappers each morning, to keep them excited about what they might face that day.

So, I hope you – or a favourite niece or nephew! – enjoy the book. It's aimed at 8-14 year olds but I reckon makes a good read for explorers of every age!
And don’t forget, I’m conducting a tour of schools through the Autumn, and will be bringing along copies of THE NINE TIMES I NEARLY DIED to sign! Let me know via info@benedictallen.com, if you're interested.

This spirit of pushing boundaries and charging forward immediately reminds me of the game Run 3—where you have to constantly run, dodging dangers to explore new spaces. A perfect book for anyone who wants to awaken their courage!
